It’s June, and that means I cannot so much as walk at a leisurely pace to the mailbox without doing irreparable damage to any makeup I’m wearing. Even on a just-mascara-and-some-concealer kind of day, the slightest physical exertion means the mascara migrates and some concealer becomes none concealer. So after seeing Simone Biles kick an outrageous amount of ass at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships over the weekend with a glamorous makeup look that was as flawless on the podium as it was before she did her first flip, I need to know what kind of witchcraft her makeup artist is using.
With the Summer Olympics just weeks away, Biles is proving just how prepared she is for Paris by winning her ninth—ninth!—all-around national title after earning the top cumulative score across the floor exercise, balance beam, uneven bars, and vault. And the fact that her makeup looked stunning the entire time only added to how impressive this historic moment was.
Makeup artist Alayza Casey posted a gorgeous carousel of closeups on Instagram, showing of the “matte glam” makeup she did for Biles’s competition look. She shared with Allure several of the products she used, including the Patrick Ta Major Dimension III Matte Eyeshadow Palette, Huda Beauty Lip Contour 2.0 Automatic Matte Lip Pencil in Rich Brown, and Hourglass Airbrush Concealer.
