Sabrina Carpenter Wears a $50 Lipstick to Mutilate Jenna Ortega in the “Taste” Video — Find Out Which

There are three kinds of late-August people: the summer lovers who milk the sunny season until September 22, the ones who start ordering pumpkin spice lattes the moment they’re back on their favorite coffee chain’s menu, and the ones who (correctly) state that it’s already Halloween. Sabrina Carpenter and Jenna Ortega are that last kind of late-August person, as is extremely apparent in the campy-meets-gory music video for Carpenter’s new single, “Taste.”

The video dropped on the same day as Carpenter’s new album, Short n’ Sweet, and it comes with a violent-content warning for good reason: the two starlets fight over a boyfriend with brutality that recalls Death Becomes Her, Kill Bill, Psycho, and more. And despite how slapstick it is, if you’re sensitive to body horror, you may want to pass on watching it. That said, you should at least give the first few seconds of the video because there’s an iconic, carnage-free beauty moment.

As Carpenter sings a threatening lullaby and assesses an arsenal of deadly weapons laid out on a frilly bed (including what appears to be an Ecotool Ecopouf Bath Brush…?) she picks up an especially elegant lipstick: Prada Monochrome Soft Matte Lipstick in the shade Tonka, a mauve-y brown with a dreamy, diffused finish. And, of course, she uses a huge knife as a mirror.

This isn’t the first time Carpenter has picked a Prada lip product for a music video. She used—and consequently sparked a run on—Moisturizing Balm in Astral Pink in “Please, Please, Please.”

And no matter what type of late-August person you are, one thing is true: This lip color is gorgeous any time of year.
