Royal fans issue same complaint as Duchess Sophie turns heads at Ascot | Royal | News

Duchess Sophie looked every inch the royal she is on Day Three of Royal Ascot on Thursday.

The Duchess of Edinburgh looked stunning in Suzannah London x Marieluise Bantel’s Trixie floor-length silk shirt dress in a cream colour with a floral pattern (£2,190) and a pair of cream pointy heels.

She stylishly accessorised her look with a striking bespoke Jane Taylor hat in baby pink (£1,945) and Sophie Habsburg’s Minuit clutch in burgundy red (£242).

However, royal fans were divided on Sophie’s latest outfit, with several of them disapproving of the dress’ length.

One user wrote on Instagram: “Just don’t love the full-length dresses on her.”

A second one agreed: “Dress is nice, but too long and the hat is just too expensive. “

While a third commented: “Nice print but I don’t think the length is appropriate for the occasion, especially on grass.”

However, there were others who did like the royal’s ensemble and commented on the flattering pattern.

One user said: “I like it! I think the length gives this dress a formal look. If it was shorter, it would have been a pretty standard shirt dress. And I loooove the print! [heart emoji] The hat is nice too. A dress of this length needs a big hat for balance and this one is perfect! The bag gives the outfit a pop of colour. I’m a fan!”

A second user wrote on X: “I love this dress with the beautiful floral pattern.”

A third one chimed: “I adore Sophie, and I want her wardrobe! She is pure class.”

Lastly, a fourth one opined: “That dress has the wow factor and looks gorgeous on Sophie. The outfit as a whole is stunning.”
