If there’s anybody to determine whether you make it as a Vogue model—or the kind of model who revolutionizes the fashion industry—it’s Rosie Vogel-Eades, Vogue’s Global Director of Talent and Casting.
Here are Rosie’s top tips for getting your modeling breakthrough—and how to elevate your career to new levels.
Get an agent
“It’s very rare that Vogue would book a model without an agency, as that filter is really important. I work with amazing agencies within the industry, and what they do is filter out the girls that won’t work from those that will work—and they give a basic level of training and teaching so you can understand how the industry works.”
Agencies get you into clients
“People like Piergiorgio Del Moro or Ashley Brokaw are not going to take an email from some random girl—but if an agency says, ‘Hey, I have this incredible girl,’ they will listen. An agency will also help you get the right pictures taken—even simple digitals—which will really help.
“Agencies are there to protect you and to send you to see the right people. The briefs come to the agents, and they will send you to the right place—be it commercial, editorial, runway.
“I go to an agent to make sure the girls are of age and well-taken-care-of. That’s what a good agent will do—all while pointing you in the right direction.”
Vogue rarely casts models without representation
“Only in the rarest of occasions would this happen—and likely only with a model we are already very familiar with.”
Do your research!
