Robert Irwin’s secret Bluey job stuns fans: ‘No way’

Years after Robert Irwin made his TV debut, some fans are only just discovering his secret project.

The wildlife warrior has been one of many celebrities to lend his voice to the hit Australian children’s show Bluey.

Irwin played Alfie in the episode, The Quiet Game, which aired in November 2020.

While the then 16-year-old did some promotion for his feature at the time, many fans had no idea of it until now.

On August 26, a fan who had rewatched the series took to social media to remind fans of the show that Irwin, now 19, was among the voice actors.

“I only now just realised that Alfie from Bluey is voiced by Robert Irwin,” she said.

“Look how cute this is!” the user added, sharing a photo of the character wearing Irwin’s famous Australia Zoo khakis.

“Did you know this?” she captioned the photo.

Fans in the comments were divided, with some having no idea about Irwin’s cameo, while others recognised his distinct voice immediately.

“OMG NO WAY,” one said.

“I had no idea!!” another said.

One fan wrote, “This makes my heart happy”.

“Heard the voice and immediately looked it up. Love how Alfie somehow resembles Robert 😂,” a user said.

“I called it as soon as I heard him. He’s so adorable 😭,” another agreed.

“My daughter was watching it the other day and I overheard the episode and immediately was like ‘Robert Irwin’???” a third wrote.

Irwin’s character Alfie is one of the few characters on the show to wear clothes and is the first wild dog to appear in the series.

The post then sparked another user to share the names of other celebrities who have ‘secretly’ featured in Bluey.

“Our beautiful little friend Rusty, his dad is voiced by the Blue Wiggle Anthony Field,” one user wrote.

Other stars appearing on the hit series are Hamish Blake and Zoe Foster Blake, who have both voiced Hammerbarn employees and are Jack’s parents.

“This one is pretty well known by now but Major Tom is voiced by Lin Manuel Miranda,” the user continued.

“Finally you know in the episode of Whales where they’re watching the documentary? You may have thought to yourself that that voice looks familiar.

“Well that is the voice of Natalie Portman,” she said of the Hollywood actress.

Another detail the video shared was a portrait of the Wiggles in the background of a cubby house in the episode Phones.

Fans continued to share their surprise at the star cameos.

“How did I not know that Anthony from the Wiggles and Lin Manuel are in Bluey?” a user said.

“Wait I didn’t know about Natalie Portman! That’s so cool!” a commenter wrote.

“I only knew about Robert Irwin. I didn’t know the rest. I love it lol,” a third said.
