Coulter’s Instagram post showed her performing as a teenager in glasses, an orange cami top and black pants.
“Today I shot the music video for my new song Point Of No Return!” she captioned the photo.
“But 22 years ago…this 15-year-old sang in front of people for the very first time wearing a classic early 00s alien tank top with the iconic Anastasia-inspired rose-coloured sunnies because…fashion.”
“I didn’t know it at the time, but this very photo captured the beginning of my career!
“From here I went to play in dirty pubs, nightclubs, bars and at weddings…all places I wasn’t even supposed to be in because I was underage.”
Coulter said that she dreamt of “being a pop star like my Idols”.
This included recording her own music, fans recognising her songs and name and having fans come to her concerts.
The singer also dreamed of music videos and hearing her songs play on the radio.
“I’m so lucky I get to actually live my dreams! Thank you for making it possible xxx You can Pre-Save #PointOfNoReturn now,” she wrote.
A longtime friend of Coulter’s took to the comments to reminisce.
”There she is 🙌🏽 I remember this Ricki super well. The same one that rocked into JB Bundall to get your sound system put in your Commy while singing to me while I was working 🤣,” a friend said.
“Good times and memories I’ll remember forever.”
“I love that I can look at this and not cringe because we were so seriously cool and anyone who doesn’t think so can fight me,” another said.
“Sometimes you never know how important a photo you took could visually bring back those memories captured as if it was yesterday ❤️,” a user wrote.
Another added, “I love that the photo has the old film time stamp as it really is a point of time in your history before the country fell in love with you on Idol 👏👏👏👏👏”.
Coulter went on to live her dreams in the music industry, even experiencing the full circle moment of hosting Australian Idol in 2023, the show where she first found success.
