Priced at Rs 8.89 crore (ex-showroom), it’s the most expensive model launched in India by the Bologna-based manufacturer. It marks the entry of Lamborghini in the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle segment. The hybrid Revuelto is a much more powerful successor to the Lamborghini Aventador, which was discontinued in 2022.
“The Indian economy is the fastest growing economy of the world. We see that a lot of people are becoming rich and able to step into the Lamborghini world and into the super sports car world. The Revuelto is sold out till 2026 in India and globally,” said Francesco Scardaoni, director for Asia Pacific at Lamborghini.
All the existing models of Lamborghini in India are sold out till 2024. There’s a waiting period of up to 20 months for most of its models in the country. This is even as the allocations for the Indian market – where the company has been growing at a fast clip, albeit on a small base – have been going up.
In 2022, the Italian firm sold 9,233 cars worldwide, an increase of 10% year-on-year. While the Indian market contributed just 1% to its global sales, with 92 cars sold in 2022, the growth was 33% year-on-year.
Encouraged by a robust demand, the maker of Hurus and Huracan models is considering setting up one more dealership in India which is likely to come up in the southern part of the country. The Volkswagen Group brand currently has presence in Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru. The market is growing so it’s important to be closer to the customers, said Scardaoni. About 20% of the customers are first-time Lamborghini buyers, he said, while another 20% are the ones who have experienced the company’s sport utility vehicle with Urus. The Revuelto is powered by a new 6.5-litre V12 engine which is coupled to three electric motors and a 3.8kWh lithium-ion battery. The naturally aspirated V12 engine produces 825hp and 725Nm of torque. Combined with the electric motors, it produces 1,015hp, and power is sent to all four wheels via a new 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
“The Revuelto’s launch is opening the milestone year for hybridisation for Lamborghini globally, allowing the company to reach a 50% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2025. Lamborghini will be investing 1.9 billion euros for electrifying its cars, the highest in its history,” said Scardaoni.
