Report: Alouettes star WR Tyson Philpot out for season

The Montreal Alouettes’ quest to repeat as Grey Cup champions just got a little bit harder.

Star Canadian receiver Tyson Philpot has been ruled out for the remainder of the season, 3DownNation’s JC Abbott confirmed Thursday.

Philpot indicated that he would not be able to return in 2024 on his personal Instagram account.

“To be continued,” Philpot wrote. “Shoutout my team, the fans of the CFL and the whole city of Montreal! I can’t wait to be back healthy and write this next chapter in 2025!”

The 24-year-old University of Calgary product was placed on the six-game injured list after suffering a foot injury in Week 11 against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Philpot had been on a tear to start the season, catching 58 passes for 779 yards and five touchdowns before going down with injury. He still sits seventh overall in receiving yards despite missing Montreal’s past two games.

The Delta, B.C., native broke out at the end of last season, and had his coming out party in the Alouettes’ Grey Cup victory. He caught the game-winning touchdown and was named the Grey Cup’s Most Valuable Canadian.

Philpot’s brother, Jalen Philpot, plays for the Calgary Stampeders.

Montreal has the best record in the CFL, leading the East Division with a 10-2 record.
