A Central Coast grandmother will take her red light fine challenge all the way to court, claiming she does not deserve the expensive “slap in the face”.
Aged care worker Sue Beltran copped a $544 fine and three demerit points for running a red light in Emington in Sydney in September.

“I’m not young myself and I’m working to make ends meet, so this is just an added sort of slap in the face,” she told 7NEWS.
Beltran says she is a good motorist and the safety of her four clients that she transports in her car every day is always front of mind.
While admitting she was over the white line, she said she did not complete a turn.
Beltran said one car in front of her had “stalled in the middle of the road” while another stopped halfway before turning.
A driver behind her was “up my bumper” so she could not reverse, “so I just stayed where I was”.
Beltran was shocked to receive the big fine and the photo, which she said “clearly” shows “I was still stationary”.
Opposition transport spokesperson Natalie Ward said people get stuck at the intersection “which is why there should be discretion to review situations like this”.
When Beltran initially challenged the fine, Revenue NSW told her that leniency is not appropriate because it is a serious offence due to public safety.
But she is not backing down and will fight the decision in court.
