Port Adelaide AFL star Jeremy Finlayson and wife Kellie sell home to accommodate cancer treatment

Port Adelaide forward Jeremy Finlayson and wife Kellie are “sad” to be selling their “forever home” after they moved to a more suitable location for her ongoing cancer treatment.

The AFL star and his podcaster wife bought the heritage home in Hendon, in Adelaide’s northwest, in 2022.

But due to Kellie’s health battle, they and their three-year-old daughter have moved into a new rental with more space to accommodate for her in-home care.

Kellie was diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer in 2021, and has been open about her struggles.

At the start of this month she restarted her chemotherapy treatment after revealing the cancer was again growing and no longer stable.

It’s a full circle for Kellie, with Adelaide Now explaining she began her first round of radiotherapy and chemotherapy a week before settlement on the Hendon home (near Port Adelaide’s home base).

“I really wanted a heritage home, like a villa with hardwood floors, and this one was in really good condition,” Kellie told the outlet.

“It’s got the world’s biggest backyard, and we wanted to extend, but with my health that didn’t happen.”

“This was to be our forever home, but I guess life had other plans,” Kellie said.

Kellie said that she had a “never-ending revolving door of helpers” which the size of the young couple’s first home “just doesn’t permit”.

The pair and their daughter Sophia plan to sell ahead of a surgery to remove nodules on Kellie’s lungs.

That operation is set for December, according to reports.

In an Adelaide Now video on the three-bedroom home on the 671m² property, the couple shared their favourite features — high original ceilings, a large backyard, wooden floorboards lots of storage, and great neighbours.

“They’re the best,” Jeremy said.

The home on Vickers Ave is going to auction on September 24.

Jeremy recently signed a one-year contract extension for Port Adelaide that secured his AFL future for next year.
