One dead, two fighting for life as multi-vehicle crash sparks traffic chaos in Eastwood

One person has died and two others are fighting for life in a serious multi-vehicle crash which is causing traffic chaos in Sydney’s northwest.

Motorists are being warned to expect significant delays after up to six vehicles crashed at the intersection of First Ave and Blaxland Rd in Eastwood about 1.30pm on Wednesday.

NSW Police said one person died at the scene, while two others were taken to hospital in critical condition.

Another four people suffered minor injuries and were also taken to hospital, where they will also undergo mandatory blood and urine testing.

Police are investigating how the crash unfolded.

“Initial inquiries indicate that six vehicles are involved,” police said.

Traffic diversions are in place, with First Ave closed in both directions.

Drivers are being told to expect long delays.

“Avoid the area or follow the direction of emergency services on site and allow extra travel time,” Live Traffic Sydney said.
