Munn wears two different bras and a bodysuit from Kim Kardashian’s shapewear company in some promotional photos.

In other shots, the actress is topless, leaving visible the scars on the side of her breasts from the mastectomy and breast reconstruction surgery.

“When Skims approached me to do this campaign, it was just to do their shapewear and their new leggings, and it wasn’t about my scar at all,” Munn told the Today show on Wednesday.

But when the makeup artist went to conceal the scarring, Munn asked the Skims team about including the marks.

“In the middle of this latest @SKIMS campaign shoot, I decided I was done being insecure about my mastectomy scars,” she wrote in an Instagram post alongside the photos.

“Every mark life has left behind on my body is proof of how hard I fought,” the Newsroom actress continued. “I hope other women who have been self-conscious about their scars see these photos and feel all the love I’m sending.”

In a press release for the campaign, Kardashian praised Munn, saying “Olivia’s bravery in sharing her story is deeply moving, and we’re honoured to amplify her voice this Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”

Munn was diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer in April 2023 after tests confirmed she had luminal B — a fast-moving, aggressive cancer — in both breasts, she revealed in an emotional Instagram post in March of this year.

She has since had five surgeries including a lymph node dissection, a double mastectomy and a hysterectomy.

Munn revealed she is now “doing great,” while juggling her health management and parenting two-year-old son Malcolm and newborn daughter Mei with husband John Mulaney.

“I am in the middle of mixing my medication around a little bit, because anybody who is going through this can understand that treatment can be taxing at times, so I’m trying to find the right medication,” she explained.

“But I’ve got my hands full with a newborn and toddler, so a lot of my energy is going towards them and it’s distracting a lot of the other side effects of my medication.”

In another Instagram post, Munn wrote how “proud” she is to share her breast cancer journey in Skims’ latest campaign.

“This cause is deeply personal to me, and my hope is to continue inspiring women to prioritize their health and early screenings.”

She referred to a phrase someone told her that has stuck with her: “When it comes to breast cancer, they say, welcome to the worst club with the best members.”

She added: “When I look at the scars or how my breasts look different or how clothes fit on me differently, I just feel a lot of gratitude. The way my body looks is just a representation of how hard I fought.”
