Nintendo Switch fans are in for a treat this week, as Nintendo announces plans to hold a surprise Nintendo Direct conference dedicated entirely to indie games coming to the Switch in 2024. And the good news is that there isn’t long to wait, because the Indie Showcase will take place at 3pm BST UK time on the afternoon of April 17. The news was announced by Nintendo on X: “A new Indie World Showcase is airing tomorrow, 17th April at 3pm BST. Tune in for roughly 20 minutes of announcements and updates on indie games coming to Nintendo Switch in 2024.” It’s a live presentation, which means you can watch the entire thing unfold in real-time by clicking play on the YouTube video below. The fact that it’s live suggests it’s going to be a good one, featuring plenty of exciting announcements and maybe even a shadow drop or two (which is when a game launches directly after the conference). In fact, if recent rumours are to be believed, we could finally get a release date for the long-awaited Hollow Knight sequel.
Hollow Knight Silksong has been making headlines in recent weeks, beginning with an appearance on the Xbox store page.
Its appearance on the Xbox website meant fans were finally able to add it to their wishlists ahead of launch.
Hollow Knight Silksong was then given an age rating in North America, South Korea and Australia, which further suggests a release is imminent.
Silksong’s appearance on the Australian ratings board is particularly promising, because ratings are generally only given to games submitted in their final state.
If Hollow Knight Silksong doesn’t show up during the April 17 Nintendo Direct, then expect it to make an appearance during the next month or two.
The sequel takes place in a new land, and will feature a ton of new powers and abilities.
“Play as Hornet, princess-protector of Hallownest, and adventure through a whole new kingdom ruled by silk and song!” reads the official description.
“Captured and brought to this unfamiliar world, Hornet must battle foes and solve mysteries as she ascends on a deadly pilgrimage to the kingdom’s peak.”
I’m hoping we’ll finally get a release date of Metal Slug Tactics, which has been on my radar since it was announced a couple of years ago.
A spinoff of the popular arcade shoot-em-up series, Metal Slug Tactics is a roguelike strategy game with turn-based combat.
I’m also hoping to see more of Night Slashers: Remake, as well as Toxic Crusaders and Shadow of the Ninja: Reborn.
