Nigella Lawson admits to unusual bedroom activity – but it could lead to health risk | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Celebrity chef, Nigella Lawson has admitted to one unusual bedroom habit, and it may have some unhealthy consequences.

In a recent interview with The Times, she admitted that she is ‘very pro eating in bed’ and that she will “eat absolutely anything in bed, except something that needs a knife and fork. It has to be either fingers or a spoon.”

Unfortunately for the BBC star, her peculiar habit might have repercussions for her health, as an expert warned against horizontal eating last month, in the Daily Mirror.

Sleep expert Dr Deborah Lee said that while she understsnds the temptation of enjoying some of your favourite snacks in bed, there are some very real risks with doing so.

She explained: “We know it can be tempting to cuddle up in bed and watch Netflix’s latest offerings with your local takeaway’s finest pizza.

“However, pizza boxes, leftover takeaway chicken, and the like can attract flies, ants, and even cockroaches.”

She added:”It’s not just about the annoyance of crumbs, it’s a potential health hazard.

“Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a harmful bacteria often found on cockroaches and their droppings, can even end up on your pyjamas or clothing.

“Imagine transferring this onto your bed!”

It’s not only bacteria that people should be worried about when eating lying down, as experts have also warned that horizontal eating can have a detrimental impact on your digestive system – causing bloating and even acid reflux in some circumstances.

Experts have additionally shared that the bad habit can lead to psycholgical problems related to sleep, saying that eating in the place that you rest can be harmful, as your body needs to see the bedroom as a place to sleep, not eat.

Nigella, who began her career as a journalist, later decided to take up cooking after developing an interest in her mum’s recipes as a child.

Since then, she has become a household name thanks to her countless cookery books and iconic TV series documenting some of her homemade recipes.
