MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace said JD Vance messed up in a major way when he insulted Vice President Kamala Harris as “trash” on the eve of Election Day.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Atlanta, Georgia, on Monday, the Republican vice presidential nominee said that “in two days, we’re going to take out the trash, and the trash’s name is Kamala Harris.”
On MSNBC soon afterwards, Wallace watched the clip three times in a row.
“Oh my god,” she said after the first time. “Can I see that again?”
“Forgive me. One more time,” she said after the next.
After watching three times, she told viewers, “In my humble view: lights out.”
“Women. You can disagree with us, we’ve actually learned to take it for our whole careers all the time in every form, but you call us trash?” she continued. “Oh, oh, oh. You just effed up in a way that I’ve never seen in my political life — and I worked for Sarah Palin.”

Vance and his running mate, Donald Trump, have alienated women during the 2024 campaign by making and amplifying sexist and creepy comments, and campaigning with misogynists.
Trump has also attempted to rewrite his record on reproductive rights, after paving the way for extreme abortion bans to be enacted across the country.
The former president is still dealing with the fallout, particularly in the key swing state of Pennsylvania, after a comedian at his New York City rally late last month called Puerto Rico an island of “garbage.”
While condemning the racist themes at the rally, President Joe Biden appeared to call Trump supporters “garbage.” While he later clarified he was referring to the rhetoric, Trump and his allies have seized on the moment to tell their supporters Biden thinks of them as trash.
