New Zealand Joins Australia In Banning Entry By Far-Right Influencer Candace Owens

Far-right influencer Candace Owens has now been banned from entering multiple countries she was planning to visit as part of a live tour.

The American, who has millions of followers on social media, was denied an Entertainers Work Visa to enter New Zealand, immigration officials said Thursday, because she was previously banned from entering Australia.

“Under section 15(1)(f) of the Immigration Act, an individual may not be granted a visa to come to New Zealand if they have been excluded from another country,” Immigration New Zealand said in a statement.

Owens has not publicly addressed the development so far.

The extremist commentator had been set to embark on a multicity tour of New Zealand and Australia. Despite being denied entry to both nations, tickets for her events there still appear to be available for sale online.

A website advertising the tour calls it an “opportunity to experience firsthand the intellect and fearlessness, that has captivated millions around the globe.”

Tony Burke, Australia’s immigration minister, cited some of Owens’ controversial statements while explaining the decision to bar her from the country in October.

“From downplaying the impact of the Holocaust with comments about [German SS officer Josef] Mengele through to claims that Muslims started slavery, Candace Owens has the capacity to incite discord in almost every direction,” Burke said at the time.

“Australia’s national interest is best served when Candace Owens is somewhere else,” Burke added.

Over the summer, Owens had used her podcast to call into question the inhumane experiments that Mengele performed on people during the Holocaust.

“That just sounds like bizarre propaganda,” she said.
