NBA legend Dwyane Wade has been immortalised by the Miami Heat with a statue outside the Kaseya Center…
…But you’d be forgiven for doing a double take to make sure it’s him.

Add Wade’s to the long list of statues that look nothing like their subjects — a list made most famous by that of Cristiano Ronaldo, before it was scrapped and re-done.
Ronaldo’s face looked so comically bad that they had another statue made altogether.
Wade’s may not be that bad, but it’s not far off.
The historic unveiling has been somewhat soured — online at least — by an endless pit of memes ridiculing it.
“Miami Heat did Dwyane Wade dirty,” one said.
“Why did they make Dwyane Wade look like the villain from The Mask?” another added.
American daily fantasy sports operator Prize Picks even offered a giveaway if the statue is “fixed”.
“That is NOT D Wade bro,” they said.
“If the Heat decide to fix the statue we’re gonna give away 100x FREE LINEUPS for a shot to win $5000 to random people who like this.”
Wade’s own reaction was more gracious as he spoke in front of the hundreds of Heat fans at the ceremony.
“That’s crazy, I can’t believe that — who is that guy?” he said.
Though his rhetorical question sounds like he agreed with the memes online, it was actually a comment borne out of his humility as he struggled to believe he had been given the honour at all.
The sculptors who created the statue spoke to media after its unveiling.
“At the end of the day we want to do the best job possible with human hands,” they said.
And predictably, even that was mocked.
“You gotta respect the sculptors going out for the post-game press conference after the tough loss,” sports writer Rodger Sherman said.
Wade and his non-lookalike joins other famous faces Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, whose statues near Windsor look a bit like giant papier mache project made by kids, Melanie Trump, whose is a roughly carved-out lump of wood with some blue on it, Lucille Ball, whose looks like like an alien out of Ricky and Morty, and Oscar Wilde, whose looks like a swamp creature — among a host of others.
