Murder charge laid over daylight execution of Marvin Oraiha in Elizabeth Hills in southwest Sydney

A man has been charged with murder over the daylight execution of a 24-year-old man outside his southwest Sydney home.

Marvin Oraiha — who has links to the Comanchero bikie gang — was shot dead in an ambush in the driveway of his Elizabeth Hills home about 4pm on May 22.

The 24-year-old was shot multiple times in the head and died at the scene.

Soon after, two cars linked to the crime were found burnt out at nearby Green Valley and Bonnyrigg Heights.

Strike Force Hackenburg detectives last month released CCTV of two men they wanted to question as well as footage of three vehicles as part of an appeal for information.

NSW Police said strike force detectives, with help from Raptor Squad officers, raided a home at Roselands at dawn on Wednesday and arrested a 22-year-old man.

He was charged with murder, car theft, possession of an unauthorised pistol and participating in a criminal group.

“We believe the motive for the killing was directly related to Marvin’s links to organised crime,” Criminal Groups Squad commander Detective Acting Superintendent Glyn Baker said on Thursday.

“We say that (the accused) had direct involvement immediately prior to the (alleged) murder and direct involvement after the murder.

“We say he has blood on his hands.”

The 22-year-old was refused bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court on Thursday.

Police conducted six other raids at Edensor Park, Green Valley, Yagoona, Liverpool, Merrylands and Guildford.

Police say they seized ammunition, an extendable baton, gel-blasters, a Taser, cloned registration plates, substances believed to be prohibited drugs, clothing, more than $3000 in cash and mobile phones relevant to the investigation.

Oraiha, a low-level bikie gang associate, had been with his girlfriend shortly before the shooting.

She escaped any harm and was not in the car when he was shot.

Baker said there are a number of other people involved in the alleged murder and investigations are ongoing.

Police have not established links to Oraiha’s alleged murder and other organised crime killings, Baker said.

Investigations under Strike Force Hackenburg continue.
