Fashion lovers looking to get their autumn wardrobes ready have found a flattering cardigan that’s “hides the tummy”.
The Marks and Spencer Cotton Rich Striped Crew Neck Cardigan, £35, has been getting snapped up fast as shoppers rave about the “generous fit” and “excellent quality”.
The classy black-and-white stripe pattern gives this knitwear piece an expensive look and some have bought it to wear at the office.
With a black lined finish, the M&S Collection item also boasts gold-coloured buttons, making it look even more elegant.
The cardigan comes in sizes extra-small through to extra-large and people have dubbed it as a “great smart cardigan”.
One penned: “I bought large but probably could have got away with medium for a snugger fit.”
Another shared: “I tried it on and it is just the right length to hide my tummy, it’s very flattering. I’m 5-foot-4 and size 12. Haven’t worn it out yet as weather is warm but I’m sure I will soon.”
“Quality is excellent and priced well. Like the style, which is relaxed, but can be worn either with jeans and T-shirt or with a dress,” another person remarked.
They continued: “It feels weighty, cotton knit, and the sleeves are long, so I have turned them up. But it looks good.”
Another customer explained how the item managed to surpass her expectations, adding: “I’d seen this a few times online, kept thinking it looked nice. I decided it would be really useful. When I received it, it is even better. Extremely smart, but really comfy, I will get a lot of use out of it.”
But one said her elderly mother-in-law found it difficult to wear because the sleeves are “very long” and she had to “change the buttons as the existing ones are rough and too tight for the button holes”.
Meanwhile, Selfridges have reduced the price of a Reiss cardigan from £148 to £98. Called the ‘Juni’ cardigan, it is made of 95% wool and 5% cashmere. The relaxed fit cardigan has a V-neck and front pockets and can be worn on its own or under thick coats.
New Look offers this Cream Bouclé Short Sleeved Cardigan, £29.99, which is ideal for the upcoming autumn season.
