A US mother has been charged with murder over the death of her one-year-old child, three years after they died.
Brandy Lynn Parker told police her two-year-old child fell asleep on top of the one-year-old before Parker located the baby “stuck” in the couch.

The one-year-old was not breathing when emergency services responded to a call from the 39-year-old Lynchburg woman on January 23, 2020.
The infant was located at Brookside Apartments on Belle Terre Dr, and pronounced dead at Lynchburg General Hospital after attempted lifesaving efforts by medics.
Detectives determined after a long investigation that reckless disregard for human life had a hand in the child’s death.
She was arrested and charged with felony murder, and felony child abuse and neglect on Wednesday, June 7 and is being held at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond.
Parker initially told police that “her two-year-old child fell asleep on top of the infant on the couch” and that Parker found the infant “stuck” in the couch, according to warrants obtained by WSET.
Warrants also confirmed that Parker was the mother of the child and that officers on the scene detected the “odour of alcohol” coming from Parker.
Parker admitted to consuming alcohol the previous night, according to warrants. Child Protective Services responded to the scene and submitted her to a Preliminary Breath Test (PBT).
Police said this was “due to the fact she was the sole caretaker of the infant and two-year-old at the time of the infant’s death.”
Her test registered a 0.14 and that a sample of blood was requested for further testing of Parker’s blood alcohol levels, according to warrants.
