Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer Throws Shade At Trump

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) shaded former President Donald Trump on Tuesday’s episode of “Watch What Happens Live” as she revealed what her tagline would be if she were ever in the cast of one of the “Real Housewives” franchises.

“Some people call me ‘that woman from Michigan’; I call it ‘getting shit done,’” Whitmer said.

The tagline is a reference to the time Trump called Whitmer “the woman in Michigan” after Whitmer called out the federal government for its lack of help during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“She has no idea what’s going on,” Trump said of Whitmer during a White House briefing in March 2020. “And all she does is say, ‘Oh, it’s the federal government’s fault.’ And we’ve taken great care of Michigan.”

He continued: “I say, ‘Mike, don’t call the governor of Washington; you’re wasting your time with him. Don’t call the woman in Michigan. It doesn’t make any difference what happens.’”

Soon after Trump’s remarks, Whitmer went on “The Daily Show” wearing a bedazzled shirt that read “that woman from Michigan.”

During August’s Democratic National Convention, Whitmer again referenced the insult.

“Donald Trump called me ‘that woman from Michigan’ as an insult,” Whitmer said. “Being a woman from Michigan is a badge of honor. Like women across America, we just G.S.D. Get stuff done.”

During her appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” Whitmer also shaded far-right activist Laura Loomer, when Whitmer pretended to not know who Loomer is. Loomer joined Trump at a 9/11 memorial ceremony, despite continuing to push conspiracies about the terror attacks, and on the former president’s plane before his debate earlier this month.
