Michelle Yeoh Could Go Totally Incognito In This Blonde Bob—See the Photos

For her role as Shiz’s Dean of Sorcery Studies Madame Morrible in the forthcoming Wicked movie, Oscar-winning actor Michelle Yeoh wears an icy silver curled updo similar to the one worn by the character in the Broadway production, but for the Los Angeles premiere, she did a total 180 and hit the red carpet in a surprising style that we can’t stop thinking about: a glamorous blonde bob!

Yeoh typically wears her hair long and sleek or softly curled, but she and hairstylist Renato Campora changed things up in a big way with her chin-length bob, which was styled in fluffy waves for lots of bounce and va-va-voom factor. “We decided on this more exaggerated look because of the campiness that Wicked is,” Campora explained of the inspiration behind the short style. “We kept it short, modern, and voluminous.”

Yeoh’s hair color was a dimensional mix of blonde tones, including light butter blonde, wheat, and an ashy blonde smudge root. Campora prepped the hair with Wella Professionals EIMI Body Crafter Flexible Volumizing Spray, applying to the roots and mid-sections for lots of volume, then blow dried each section and pincurled it. Once the curls were cool, Campora brushed them out and sprayed the hair with Wella’s Professionals Professionals EIMI Stay Firm Hair Finishing Spray and EIMI Glam Mist for “extra pizazz.” (Madame Morrible can control the weather, so you need some hairspray to make sure your hair stays in place!)

Campora parted the hair to the side for an “elegant and angular silhouette.” The front portion of Yeoh’s hair was curled and brushed out into a glamorous S-shape that curved along with the contours of her face, partially covering one brow and highlighting her cheekbones before flipping out at the ends.
