Michael J. Fox rocks out with Coldplay at Glastonbury

Fans at Glastonbury Festival were surprised by a performance by Marty McFly.

On Saturday, Michael J. Fox joined Coldplay onstage during their set at the United Kingdom festival. The band’s frontman Chris Martin welcomed the actor to the front of the stage in front of 100,000 fans.

‘Well, here’s another legendary Michael, he just totally rocks. With his Chuck Berry riff and the way he punched Biff!” Martin sang as Fox made his way to the center of the stage. “Please welcome Michael J. Fox!”

The actor, who has been battling Parkinson’s Disease since 1991, was aided to the stage via wheelchair.

“The main reason we’re in a band is because of watching ‘Back to the Future,’” he Martin told the crowd. “Thank you to our hero forever and one of the most amazing people on Earth, Mr. Michael J. Fox. Thank you so much Michael, our hero.”

The “Family Ties” actor joined the band during their encore performance of “Fix You.”

Following the performance, Fox posted the experience to social media.

“Glastonbury all the love and thanks to the @coldplay team who took such great care of us,” he wrote to Instagram. “And many thanks to Chris, Will, Johnny, Guy and Phil. Oh yeah in case you were wondering…it was f–king mind blowing. There is a time for every band and a band for every time. This is @coldplay’s time.”

This isn’t the first time Fox has jammed with the London band.

Fox previously hit the stage with the band in 2016 at their show at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium. During that show, he played guitar to the Berry hit “Johnny B. Goode” as Martin sang along. Many will remember Fox famously playing Berry’s song “Johnny B. Goode” in “Back to the Future.”
