Melbourne captain Max Gawn and wife Jessica welcome second child into the world

Melbourne captain Max and Jessica Gawn have announced the birth of their second child.

Max posted a photo of himself and Jessica with their new son, Louis Lyle Gawn.

The post was flooded with comments and likes from fans, teammates and fellow AFL players.

Louis joins older brother, George, who revealed the news of his sibling’s impending arrival back in July.

George posed with a photo of the ultrasound in an Instagram photo, captioned: “George wants to tell you something”, on the Dees skipper’s account.

The pair became parents for the first time when their first son was born a month after the Demons won the 2021 AFL grand final.

Jessica announced the news that there was “another little Gawn to love” on her Instagram with a photo of the couple and her bump, as well as a video of George receiving the scan photo.

“What is it?” she asked her son.

George promptly dropped the scan over the side of the couch.

“Hahaha the throw. So good!” Charlotte Viney, partner of Melbourne star Jack, wrote.

Channel 7 star Abbey Holmes said: “Nawww congrats guys!! Amazing.”

Jerri Jones, wife of ex-Dees captain Nathan, and current Melbourne midfielder Angus Brayshaw also congratulated the Gawn family.

Gawn spoke earlier this year of fatherhood offering a break from the pressures of football and life.

“The most rewarding thing is waking up and he doesn’t know if you’ve lost,” he told the AFL website.

“He doesn’t know that there’s a financial crisis going on at the moment in Australia, he doesn’t know what’s happening in the news.

“He wakes up with a smile on his face — most mornings. Sometimes he wakes up and he’s had a bad sleep, but most days he starts with a smile on his face.”
