Meghan Markle has a new deal.
Today, the Duchess of Sussex announced that she’s partnering with podcast network Lemonada Media, where she will develop and host a still-untitled podcast series. Lemonada will also distribute the first season of Archetypes, the podcast she originally made with Spotify. “I’m proud to now be able to share that I am joining the brilliant team at Lemonada to continue my love of podcasting,” she said in a statement. “Our plan to re-release Archetypes so that more people can now have access to it, as well as launching a dynamic new podcast are well in the works.”
It’s a podcast that the world may not need to wait long for: “I’m so eager to be able to share it soon,” the Duchess added.
Lemonada—a female-founded company—is known for its podcasts Wiser Than Me with Julia Louis-Dreyfus as well as Choice Words with Samantha Bee. Although the Duchess hasn’t yet shared the theme of her new series, Archetypes aimed to tackle issues faced by women. (Mariah Carey, for example, talked about the complex label of “diva.”) It’s likely that, considering the background of Lemonada, its current roster of talent, and Markle’s interests, the show will touch on similar themes.
The show is definitely good news for Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry. For a while, their role in Hollywood has seemed unclear: in June 2023, they parted ways with Spotify after producing only one series of Archetypes. And with the exception of their tell-all docu-series, Harry & Meghan, their projects with Netflix—such as Live to Lead—have failed to make a splash. Yet, with this new podcast as well as their forthcoming adaptation of romance novel Meet Me At The Lake, it seems that the former royal duo are finding their footing.
