Meghan Markle continues to honor Princess Diana with her fashion choices. While the Duchess of Sussex often nods to Diana through her jewelry choices, she just added one of her late mother-in-law’s favorite accessories to her roster.
Yesterday, Markle joined actor Kimberly Williams-Paisley for lunch in Montecito in a timeless outfit befitting the American Riviera. She opted for a white button-up from Anine Bing, which she tucked into a pair of blue straight-legged La Linge jeans that she chose to cuff. She accessorized her classic look with equally elegant accessories: a pair of nude Chanel ballet flats with a black block toe, Ray-Ban aviators, and a Cartier Juste Un Clou necklace.
But the Duchess’s most poignant accessory was her handbag: a black Lady Dior purse. The boxy top-handle bag was one of Princess Diana’s favorites. In fact, it was so associated with Lady Di—who was frequently spotted carrying her black quilted purse to engagements—that it was renamed in her honor. Originally dubbed the Chouchou, Diana’s endorsement earned it a rename: the Lady.
This isn’t Markle’s first time carrying the Lady Dior. In 2021, she and Prince Harry arrived in New York for the Global Citizen Festival, and she paired the telltale bag with a white floral minidress. Eagle-eyed spectators noticed that her Lady Dior is embroidered with “DSSOS,” shorthand for “Duchess of Sussex.”
No matter what Meghan Markle wears, as long as she has her Lady Dior, she’ll always have a piece of Princess Diana with her.
