Meghan Duchess of Sussex former friend weighs in on Prince Harry split rumour: ‘Writing was on the wall’

A former friend of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, has given a bombshell verdict on the state of the former Suits star’s marriage to Prince Harry amid wild split rumours.

Lizzie Cundy, who used to be mates with the duchess, weighed in on claims that Meghan and Harry are heading for divorce, just five years after their star-studded wedding wowed the world.

RadarOnline reported on Tuesday that the couple has been “taking time apart”.

But a source close to Harry and Meghan has rubbished the claims, telling Page Six: “It’s not true, it’s literally made up”.

Cundy, however, added fuel to the fire in an interview with Britain’s Mirror.

“I don’t want to see any couples split up when any marriage falls apart, it’s sad, especially when you have children,” the 55-year-old said.

“We could all see the writing was on the wall. It’s very different when you’re a celebrity princess than being a royal princess and frankly Meghan just wasn’t up for the job.

“She didn’t want to put the hard work in, opening hospitals and doing all the roles that royals do.

“It’s not easy, it’s not glamorous, it’s not like on the red carpet.

“I think Meghan thought she was going to be the top dog star of the show (but) Princess Kate was always going to have that role.”

Cundy went on to discuss a possible split between Harry and Meghan.

“I think it will be in some respects better for Harry. We’ve got to look at it from Harry’s side, he’s in California now, he’s got none of his friends,” she said.

“He’s got no family, he’s got a rift with his father and his brother, it must be very lonely at times.”

The split rumours gained traction after it was claimed Harry and Meghan were taking their careers in separate directions, as part of a desperate plan to revive their public image.

Speaking on Sunrise, royal commentator Kinsey Schofield said the Duchess of Sussex had signed on with leading celebrity agent William Morris Endeavor (WME) to help attract more work offers.

She believes a run of bad publicity has “tainted” the “Sussex brand”, leading them to split their career paths in two.

“I certainly think that this is the beginning of the end for the Sussex entertainment brand, which was so important to them when they left the British royal family, and the idea of Meghan taking off and doing her own thing,” Schofield told Sunrise hosts Nat Barr and Matt Shirvington.

“This is William Morris Endeavor, her new agency, telling her to do this.

“They think that the Sussex brand is tainted at this point in time.

“And you saw with (WME’s) big announcement that they were signing Meghan, that they excluded Prince Harry from it.

“They’re trying to elevate Meghan and make her a bigger star and, I think, in doing so, creating a lot of conflict at home.”

Schofield noted that the latest developments are a far cry from Harry and Meghan’s initial plan to be a “joint force” in America.

“Do you remember how they were trying to brand themselves as a Barack and Michelle Obama, the former president?” she continued.

“They really wanted to be on the speaking circuit, creating documentaries and podcasts very similar to the strategy we’ve seen the former president take since he left office. And oh … how the mighty have fallen.

“They are, you know, dodging negative commentary left and right from these media outlets here in the States that have been very sympathetic towards them.”

The royal watcher went on to say that while Meghan’s agency fights to get her “additional work”, she believes Harry will take a different path.

“I think that Harry is going to go back to his charitable roots – it also associates him with Princess Diana, which people notoriously loved,” she said.

“So I think we’re going to see him do more things that are charity-driven documentaries.”
