Leave it to Loewe and Jonathan Anderson to assemble one of the most eclectic crowds so far this New York Fashion Week. The designer—fresh off the plane from the Venice Film Festival—touched down in the city to host a dinner with Saks to celebrate a new partnership.
Earlier this week, Anderson and Loewe took over the Saks New York flagship to launch an exclusive edit of the label’s fall 2024 ready-to-wear collection. Remember those viral vegetable accessories and intricately beaded handbags? You can now immerse yourself in their world through an array of massive sculptures and paintings of even more vegetables and greenery across the store’s windows and main floor. This playful takeover will be available through September 23—those looking for nonperishables can shop Anderson’s fall capsule for Saks.
“Saks is a very big partner for Loewe, and we do incredible business with them,” said Anderson during cocktail hour on the terrace of the Pace Gallery. “We wanted to do an entire takeover with the collection; we wanted a blown-up experience of what we’d already done, including these giant vegetables, and they were up for doing it,” the designer explained. The vegetable themed continued throughout the evening: The centerpieces were made of root veggies and the lobby of the gallery was permeated with the distinct but delicious—and even appetizing—scent of Loewe’s beetroot candle.
“We are delighted to be here tonight alongside the incredibly talented Jonathan Anderson to celebrate this important milestone between our two brands,” said Tracy Margolies, chief merchandising officer at Saks. “There is truly so much to toast to tonight, but most importantly, we are here to honor one of the most creative minds in fashion, Jonathan Anderson. Saks has been inspired by Jonathan’s innovative and boundary-pushing approach since the start of his journey at Loewe, and we look forward to many exciting things to come between Saks and Loewe in the future.”
But back to that guest list: Meg Ryan, Evan Peters, Greta Lee, Morgan Spector, Myha’la, Tracee Ellis Ross, and many, many more, toasted to the partnership tonight. Said Anderson: “It’s always a mix for us, and there’s a lot of people I’ve become very good friends with, but with Loewe, I always try to make sure that we build a family.”
