Matthew McConaughey expresses support for Ruidoso wildfires' victims

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The South Fork and Salt fires brought a whole community together to help those impacted by the fires and then later the floods that hit the area. However, the help is not over yet as a famous Hollywood actor used his social media to express his support for the Ruidoso area.

Actor Matthew McConaughey used his Instagram story on Thursday, July 18 to share a link on how to help Ruidoso and Lincoln County.

The Village of Ruidoso shared its gratitude for McConaughey’s support in a Facebook post, along with a screenshot of the actor’s Instagram story.

Back in March, the Village of Ruidoso announced that the movie “The Lost Bus” would film from April 1-7 in Ruidoso.

The movie, starring McConaughey, America Ferrera and Yul Vazquez, “explores what went wrong in California’s Camp Fire, the nation’s deadliest wildfire in a century, and how to prevent future tragedies, also including stories of a bus driver and school teacher who helped through a wildfire,” according to IMDb’s website.

A KTSM viewer, Adrian Madrigal, reached out to us saying he and his wife spotted McConaughey filming in Ruidoso the first week of April.

Madrigal said film crews encouraged the people of Ruidoso to be around during filming and hired hundreds of locals for extras.
