Before twin babies are even born, their entire existences are inextricably linked to their wombmate, and much of that includes their wardrobes. Last night, the Olsens were photographed together in outfits that could in fact denote “twinning.” The two opted for the same outfit formula in different flavors. Mary-Kate chose a burgundy velvet coat over flowy, green velour pants, a pair of bright blue Valsport sneakers, and a mustard colored beanie. Ashley Olsen, on the other hand, wore a more neutral interpretation of the same look, opting for a camel coat over wide-legged blue jeans and Nike Air Maxes. Both sisters accessorized with large scarves—Mary-Kate’s black, Ashley’s brown—and tiny sunglasses. And no Olsen twin outfit would be complete without The Row. Both sisters carried alligator bags from their line: Mary-Kate toted the Lady Bag while it appeared that Ashley was using the Margaux.
So there we have it, definitive proof that there is, in fact, a way to coordinate without going overboard, straight from the most fashionable twins themselves. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen each got to hold onto their unique senses of self while still paying homage to their bond. Now we’re left wondering if they texted each other to plan their outfits, or if we can chalk it up to twin telepathy.
