After a lacklustre last couple of years for the MCU, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige is focused bringing that special spark back to the franchise as it heads towards its next big crossover event.
Set for release in May 2026, Avengers 5 (formerly called The Kang Dynasty) is now reportedly going to be more of a standalone movie.
According to reliable scooper Daniel RPK, Marvel are considering splitting its follow-up, 2027’s Avengers Secret Wars, into a two-part blockbuster event to top Endgame.
Rumours abound that the likes of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man will be teaming up in a multiverse mash-up to save the MCU.
And if that wasn’t enough, an additional leak has news on what Sony are planning for Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
Maguire and Garfield’s return as their Peter Parkers alongside Tom Holland in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home was a colossal success, making almost $1.9 billion worldwide.
Recent rumours claim that Sony want the MCU’s Spider-Man 4 to be another multiverse crossover with the Web Slinging trio.
However, apparently Disney’s Marvel Studios is aiming for a more grounded storyline. And now the latest is that Sony has their own plans aside from presumed Secret Wars cameos.
According to Daniel RPK, Sony plans to bring Maguire and Garfield back to their cinematic universes outside the MCU.
The studio wants their Spider-Man incarnations to have multiverse storylines of their own.
Presumably, this means they could clash with the likes of Tom Hardy’s Venom and Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Kraven the Hunter, given those Spider-Man villain movies take place outside of the MCU.
