Partho Banerjee, Head, Sales & Marketing, Maruti Suzuki, says “as of today, we do not see any supply issues and to be very honest with regard to the market, since right now we are going through the election phase, once the government is formed, how the policies are going to be formulated and other things will play a very major role for this financial year.”

What are your expectations from the new updated premium hatch that you just launched?
Partho Banerjee: We feel that the premium hatch has a good market size. Last financial year, the total industry size of this premium hatchback was almost seven lakh and by 2030, we expect this premium hatch segment to grow up to one million mark.

What is your overall sales strategy? This is the second month of the new financial year. India’s economy is growing, macro-fundamentals are good, everything is up to the mark. So, for you there is no big challenge when it comes to sales now in the rest of the year because the earlier issues of semiconductor shortage etc are over. Do you think that this year there is not going to be any big issue?
Partho Banerjee: Coming to semiconductors, we do not see any issues with supplies in this financial year, but obviously nobody can predict the future. As of today, we do not see any supplies issues and to be very honest with regard to the market, since right now we are going through the election phase, once the government is formed, how the policies are going to be formulated and other things will play a very major role for this financial year.
