Man, woman charged in Vaughan shooting

A man and a woman have been charged following a shooting in Vaughan.

In a news release issued on Friday, York Regional Police said officers responded to a report last Saturday of a shooting at an adult entertainment venue in the Rivermede and Bowes Rds. area at about 1:30 a.m.

Officers found evidence of gunshots in the club’s main entrance, which was occupied then. There were no reported injuries, however.

On Thursday, police arrested a man and a woman in relation to the shooting.

On Friday, investigators executed search warrants in Courtice and Oakville, where a firearm was recovered.

Noel Francis, 36, of Courtice, was charged with discharge firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of an unauthorized firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in motor vehicle, possession of loaded restricted firearm, careless storage, two counts of possession of firearm contrary to prohibition, and possession of a controlled substance.

Payton Higgs, 22, of Oakville, was charged with accessory to discharge firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in motor vehicle, possession of an unauthorized firearm, possession of a controlled substance, and operate motor vehicle while prohibited.
