Man injured in targeted shooting outside Oakville home

A man is in hospital after he was injured in what cops say was a targeted shooting Saturday morning in Oakville.

Halton Regional Police said the victim was shot outside his residence in the area of Wavecrest St. and Creek Path Ave., in the south end of the city, around 10:30 a.m.

According to police, a vehicle was seen approaching the man’s home. An assailant was seen exiting the vehicle and immediately confronted the victim. During the ensuing interaction, the victim suffered a gunshot injury.

The assailant fled in the waiting vehicle, a white compact-style SUV, immediately after the shooting, cops said. Investigators do not have a make, model or licence plate of the vehicle.

The victim is being treated in hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said there was limited information about the shooter, who is described as male, wearing dark clothing and a mask covering the lower portion of his face.

“This victim appears to have been targeted during this shooting and members of the Halton Regional Police Major Crime Bureau have assumed carriage of this investigation,” police said in a news release.

Cops said the shooting is still an active investigation and they are looking to hear from anyone who may have witnessed or have knowledge about this incident.

Investigators are also appealing to anyone who may have dashcam footage or surveillance images that may assist them in this case to come forward.
