Man charged with murder after crash kills woman with two young girls in car

A man has been charged with murder, and two counts of attempted murder, after a collision in the state’s Central West.

A woman died at the scene and two young girls, who were in her car, were treated for minor injuries.

The 36-year-old woman was driving a sedan, and the 35-year-old man was driving a ute just after 3.40pm on Friday, June 9 when the vehicles fatally collided on Speedy Street, Molong.

“The passengers of the sedan – two girls aged eight and 11 – were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to hospital with minor injuries,” NSW Police report.

The male driver of the ute was freed from his car by Fire and Rescue NSW in critical condition.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedic and then transported to Royal North Shore Hospital.

Investigators later attended the hospital and charged the man, following extensive enquires of the crime scene, which was forensically examined by specialist police.

He was refused bail and will appear before the Parramatta Bail Court via audio-video link on Saturday.

Investigations are continuing.
