Man armed with knife shot dead by police in home in Sydney’s Inner West

A Sydney man was allegedly shot dead by a NSW Police officer at a Glebe residence on Wednesday night.

The man was first tasered, and then fatally shot by another officer, NSW Police said.

Police were responding to a concern for welfare report, and were allegedly confronted by the 43-year-old man armed with a knife on arrival.

Officers from Leichhardt Police Area Command arrived at the Franklyn St home just after 11.50pm.

“One officer discharged a taser and another officer then discharged a firearm,” NSW Police report.

The man was treated by NSW Ambulance, but died at the scene.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

A critical incident investigation by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad has commenced to determine all circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
