Lana Del Rey Rocks a Skirt Suit—Scratch That, a Mini Skirt Suit

Lana Del Rey had a big night in New York City yesterday evening: The singer touched down in the city to accept the National Music Publishers’ Association’s Songwriter Icon Award at Lincoln Center. While accepting her accolade onstage, the star spoke candidly about her career and how she constantly finds inspiration and creativity. “I’ve heard that the further along you go down a path, the path gets more narrow,” Del Rey said. “So it’s up to me to try and widen that path so I feel excited—as excited as [when I first started]. I work on it every day; The people I work with certainly make that easier.”

It was Del Rey’s striking Chanel look, however, that truly stole the show. Styled by Molly Dickson, Rey slipped into a classic black Chanel tweed skirt suit—though she put her own stamp on the set. Opting for a sheer crewneck top and an extra-mini hemline, she gave the ladies-who-lunch suit a decidedly more youthful feel. (The skirt is so mini, it would have many an uptown New Yorker clutching their pearls!) Still, the look read as elegant, especially thanks to her classic pumps and Old Hollywood-style tousled bouffant.

Is Del Rey officially in her Chanel era? Will we see her rocking a vintage Lagerfeld piece next? If she does, we have no doubt that she will again make it her all her own. We personally would kill to see her in a piece from the 2002 Surf collection. Cue: “West Coast”!
