Kylaq price: Skoda launches Kylaq SUV at Rs 7.89 lakh: Check booking, sale date, engine, features of Nexon, Brezza, XUV300, and Sonet rival

Skoda India has officially launched its new compact SUV, the Kylaq, with a starting price of Rs 7.89 lakh, ex-showroom. The carmaker has announced that bookings for the SUV will begin on December 2, 2024, and deliveries are set to start from January 27, 2024. The Kylaq will compete in the crowded sub-four-metre SUV market, facing rivals such as the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra 3XO and Kia Sonet.

Skoda Kylaq Design and Styling

The Kylaq follows Skoda’s signature design language, featuring a bold grille, split LED headlights, and sleek LED DRLs. The design resembles a more compact version of the Skoda Kushaq, giving the SUV a refreshed look. The model was first revealed in a striking Olive Gold color.

Skoda Kylaq Features and Safety

Built on Skoda’s MQB-A0-IN platform, the Kylaq’s interior is equipped with a 10.0-inch touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The SUV also includes a digital instrument cluster, rear AC vents, and a single-pane sunroof. Other comfort features include keyless entry, wireless phone charging, ventilated front seats, and leatherette upholstery. Audio is handled by a six-speaker Canton system, and the vehicle also boasts ambient lighting.

In terms of safety, the Kylaq comes with a comprehensive suite of features across all variants. These include six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, traction control, ISOFIX mounts, and three-point seatbelts for all passengers. Additionally, both the driver and front passenger enjoy powered seat adjustments. The SUV offers a 446-litre boot, which can be expanded with a 60:40 split-folding rear seat.

Skoda Kylaq Engine and Performance

The Kylaq is powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 115 hp and 178 Nm of torque. It offers two transmission options: a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Skoda claims that the SUV can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 10.5 seconds.

Skoda’s Strategic Focus on India

The Kylaq holds significant importance for Skoda as the brand seeks to strengthen its presence in India’s competitive mass market. India is a key market for Skoda, with the brand producing 50% of its cars outside the Czech Republic locally. Skoda aims to sell 1,00,000 units annually in India by 2026, and the Kylaq is expected to play a pivotal role in achieving these targets.
