KFC set to launch Waffle Double and bring back one of its ‘most requested’ burger

KFC has surprised fans with the major launch of a new waffle and fried chicken combo, as well as bring back one of its “most requested” iconic burgers.

The fast food restaurant will drop the new Waffle Double for the first time in Australia on Tuesday, June 11.

Bringing together sweet and savoury, the never-before-seen menu item is made with a golden, fluffy waffle, bacon and smokey maple mayo packed between two fillets of the Original Crispy chicken.

The waffle creation will be one of three variations of the Double to hit restaurants across the nation.

KFC will “hard launch” the Original Double, featuring the new crispy fillets, and bring back its beloved Zinger Double.

The Double first hit shores Down Under in 2011 — becoming a fan-favourite — from the likes of the Zinger Mozzarella Double to the Pizza Double and Zinger Tower Double.

Tami Cunningham, chief marketing officer at KFC Australia, expressed excitement about the menu items.

“As one of our most requested menu items, we’re thrilled to bring back the iconic Double, this time with a sweet new twist,” Cunningham said in a statement sent to 7NEWS.com.au.

“We’re confident fans will be eager to try the new Waffle Double and Original Double, along with the returning Zinger Double.

“This triple Double threat won’t be available for long, so mark your calendars and join the excitement.”

But don’t “waffle on any longer” as the Double range will only be around for a limited time only.

The range will be available from June 11 to July 8 at participating KFC restaurants across Australia, as well as through the KFC app.
