Kelly Clarkson let the world know this weekend that she’s not hating on Taylor Swift’s budding relationship with NFL player Travis Kelce.
The host of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” recently came under fire after joking about the superstar pair during a conversation on Thursday with her guest, “Saturday Night Live” star Bowen Yang.
During the episode, Clarkson mentioned a viral SNL skit that mocked the NFL’s controversial excessive coverage of “Traylor.”
“It’s not hilarious how it is literally taking over the NFL for people that like watching sports now,” she said at the time. “It’s like you’re watching Housewives while you’re watching.”
On Saturday, Clarkson hit up Instagram to address the critics who claimed she shaded the pop star and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end.
“Just a quick public service announcement everybody since this seems to be breaking news,” Clarkson wrote. “Do not fall prey to clickbait, trash reporters twisting the facts again. I did not bash anyone’s romance.”
She continued, “I am pro romance. Yay romance. Did y’all even watch what I actually said on my show? I just said I want to watch football when I tune in to watch football. Seems an appropriate request. Okay, carry on, and GO COWBOYS!”
Many fans on X, formerly Twitter, headed to the social platform to stand by Clarkson.
To be fair, even Kelce admitted that he thinks the NFL is ”overdoing it,” with the constant spotlight on their courtship, so Clarkson’s comments don’t seem to be too far off base.
Though the “Bad Blood” crooner, 33, and Kelce, also 33, haven’t publicly confirmed they are dating, the two seemingly went public with their rumored relationship after being spotted holding hands last weekend in New York City before stopping by “SNL.”
