Keith Urban’s blunt response to Nicole Kidman question in interview with Times newspaper

Aussie singer Keith Urban has slapped down a recent interview question, making it clear he did not wish to discuss his wife, actress Nicole Kidman.

Kidman is currently dealing with the death of her beloved mother Janelle Kidman earlier this month and Urban initially rebutted a journalist’s attempt to find out how she was doing.

“I just don’t want to give you guys a headline about my wife, Ed,” Urban told The Times interviewer Ed Potton.

He later relaxed into the interview and assured that Kidman was doing “good” amid the tragedy.

“Yeah, everybody’s good, man. Thank you for asking,” he said.

The actress had just landed in Italy for the Venice International Film Festival when her mother’s death was announced on September 8.

Kidman is currently believed to be at home in Australia spending time with her family.

Her younger sister Antonia was pictured visiting her late mother’s home on the Sunday afternoon following her death, hugging a friend and placing a single flower at the door.

The sisters later shared a joint statement and a series of family photos.

“My sister and I along with our family want to thank you for the outpouring of love and kindness we have felt this week,” Kidman wrote on September 13.

“Every message we have received from those who loved and admired our Mother has meant more to us than we will ever be able to express.

“Thank you from our whole family for respecting our privacy as we take care of each other.”

Nicole’s friends and colleagues, including fellow Australian star Naomi Watts, expressed their condolences in the wake of the death.

“Sending so much love to you both,” Watts said in the comments.

“So sorry for your loss.

“Your wonderfully spirited mum will be missed by so many.

“Hopefully she is now peacefully reunited with your papa.

“Love you.”

“She’s just breathtaking,” actress Teresa Palmer said.

Nicole’s former fiance Lenny Kravitz — and father of her Big Little Lies co-star Zoë Kravitz — also extended his sympathies.

“My deepest condolences to you and the family,” Kravitz said.

“I am blessed to have been in her presence. Rest in power.”
