Performing to 100,000 footy fans on a glorious Melbourne day, Perry played her iconic hits and a couple of new songs as well.
However it was her entrance on a giant chrome-plated automobile of some sort that had many fans talking as they tried to work out what it was, with some likening it to a “giant goon bag” and others saying it looked like a “handheld vacuum cleaner”.

Backup dancers all performed with giant silver balloons over their heads, creating a cloud-like effort.
However eagle-eyed fans spotted one “sad” deflated balloon, with the dancer trying to blend in with the crowd.
“Dedication at its finest,” one observer said.
“I saw that and said to a coworker, ‘that person will be singled out. They’ll be able to say … There I am!’,” another said.
“The show must go on,” added another as a fourth said: “That balloon is the saddest thing I’ve ever seen”.
“Do you ever feel like a plastic bag drifting through the wind wanting to start again,” another said, referencing lyrics from her hit song Firework.
The TikTok user who shared the video, Yasmin Nelson, captioned the video: “The deflated balloon is the new left shark for Katy Perry.”
Nelson was referring to Perry’s Super Bowl performance from 2015 during which a dancer in a shark costume awkwardly performed next to the singer but was completely out of time.
Others referred to the similarity, even noting that both blunders occurred as she belted out Teenage Dream.
“Did someone say left shark?” one asked.
“THE SAME SONG,” another said.
A third added, “Why does it always happen during Teenage Dream?”

Perry opened her performance with her global hit Roar before launching into Dark Horse and then Gorgeous from her new album 143.
More CGI followed as Perry rolled through big hits California Gurls and Teenage Dream before Aussie star Tina Arena joined her on stage as the pair sang I Kissed A Girl together.
Perry then sang another new song Lifetimes before closing with her iconic hit Firework.
During her trip down under for the AFL grand final performance, Perry announced she would bring her Lifetimes tour to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth in June, 2025.
Appearing live on Sunrise on Wednesday, Perry said: “I am super keen to announce The Lifetimes tour, and I’m rolling out dates first in Australia.
“It’s been a long time, but I feel like I’m totally ready for it. It’s a high energy sing-along with all the songs that everybody knows and more.”
