Kaia Gerber Mixes Opulent Sparkles With Knee Socks

Kaia Gerber is the latest celebrity to hop on the Alessandro Michele train. Last night, the model and actor wore a piece from Michele’s inaugural Valentino collection to The Hollywood Reporter and Instagram’s Next Gen 2024 party in Los Angeles.

Gerber wore look 129 from Michele’s sprawling resort 2025 collection, dubbed “Avant les Débuts,” which consisted of a whopping 189 looks. The empire waist taupe minidress is intricately embellished with gold sequined embroidery and a pearl-lined sheer hem. Gerber cloaked herself in the piece’s matching capelet, which she tied at the neck—silvery tassels hanging down over her dress.

The model, who has opted to self-style lately, diverted from the runway styling, which included periwinkle lace tights, black fingerless motorcycle gloves, silver ballet flats, and a yellow headscarf. But that doesn’t mean that she played it safe. She wore a pair of white, knee-high pointelle socks with a pair of pink Valentino pumps, affixed with a sweet bow. While Kaia Gerber is no stranger to some flash, it’s exciting to watch her take a risk with fashion and a chance on more casual knee socks with her ornate dress. Perhaps she’s overcome with the spirit of Alessandro Michele himself.
