“Daily Show” correspondent Jordan Klepper said Donald Trump spent the day after the presidential debate proving one thing about his performance against Vice Presidential Kamala Harris:
He lost, and Klepper said he can prove it ― even if the former president can’t admit it.
“He did all the things losers do when they lose,” Klepper said. “No. 1: Complaining about the refs.”
Trump attacked ABC moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis for correcting him several times during the debate.
Klepper said there’s a simple explanation for that.
“They were correcting you because of the things you were saying,” he said. “That’s barely fact-checking. The moderators were reacting like normal human beings react when you hear the craziest shit you’ve ever heard.”
And Trump accused Harris of cheating, claiming she knew the questions in advance.
Again, Klepper said he had an explanation.
“It’s a presidential debate,” he said. “They always ask the same questions. It’s like being suspicious that someone knows all the words to ‘Take Me Out To The Ballgame.’”
That brought Klepper to what he said was the biggest tell of all that Trump had lost.
“He repeatedly insisted he won,” Klepper said, then played footage of Trump citing online surveys from right-wing media organizations claiming up to 92 percent of viewers said he won.
Trump hates losing, can never admit to losing ― most infamously, with his lies about the 2020 election ― and uses the word “loser” as one of his go-to insults.
“The worst thing in his world would be to be a loser,” Jack O’Donnell, who ran a casino for Trump in the 1980s, told The New York Times in 2020. “To avoid being called a loser, he will do or say anything.”
