To mark her debut at Miami Art Basel, Los Angeles-based artist Jenny Chandler hosted an intimate luncheon alongside Vogue’s Elise Taylor. Chandler’s work is beloved for its transcendent use of color, and the newly opened Casadonna served as an ideal venue. Designed by the legendary Ken Fulk, the restaurant was inspired by the Italian Riviera. Flamboyant pigments of emerald, turquoise, and rose delighted the eye across the indoor and outdoor spaces.

Dressed in a floral Dolce & Gabbana dress with platform shoes dyed Pierpaolo pink, Chandler looked the part and more. And Taylor, the author of the Assouline’s Great Celebrations, knows a thing or two about stylish fetes. She brought her curatorial knowledge to the occasion, as well as her infectious personality.

The festivities began with cocktails on the grand terrace, filled with flowering plants and flamingo-pink couches. Attendees soaked in the view of the Biscayne Pay, which glittered in the afternoon sun. Guests included entertainment tycoon Casey Wasserman, beauty entrepreneur Anastasia Soare, and Grammy-winning musician Cedric Gervais, Chanel Stewart, the Australian beauty queen who made her big screen debut in Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster Barbie, looked like a doll in her orange silk set.

Revelers moved into a brightly patterned dining room for a feast inspired by the coastal cuisine of Naples and Positano. “It’s no surprise that we’re all here to toast Jenny Chandler,” Taylor smiled. “Dedicated to her craft for over 10 years, a curation of Chandler’s work will show at three spaces — Context, Aqua Art Fair, and Sufcomber Hotel. I hope you will join me in experiencing her amazing exploration of color. We are so grateful to be here to celebrate an amazing talent.”

The room filled with laughter and swapped gossip over plates of aged toma-hawk, Dover sole, and Limone pasta topped with caviar. That evening and throughout the week, the guests (and countless others) will flock to the three galleries to admire Chandler’s vibrant canvases of layered acrylic. For all its glitter and glamour, Art Basel is, of course, about the art. Chandler ranks as one of the most exciting emerging artists to keep on your radar this week and beyond.
