Earlier this week, the former host of The Tonight Show detailed the accident to TMZ when the outlet spotted his one-eyed look while he was attending a comedy event in Beverly Hills.

“I was staying at a hotel that was on a hill,” Leno explained to TMZ. “The restaurant was (at the bottom), but I didn’t have a car. To get to it, you had to walk about a mile and a half around.”

Leno, 74, tried to take a shortcut by walking down the hill when he fell.

“I said, ‘Well, the hill doesn’t look that steep. It’s about 60-70 feet. Let me see if I can go down the hill,’” he said. “I fell down. Boom, boom, boom. I rolled down the hill, hit my head on a rock, knocked me in the eye.”

But the Jay Leno’s Garage star was undeterred from performing his planned set at Yaamava’ Resort and Casino, choosing to see a doctor when he got back to Los Angeles afterwards.

“Well, I did the show and then when I came back to L.A. I went to the hospital,” he said. “It’s not that big a deal. It’s all right.”

In a separate interview with Inside Edition, Leno said he was left “black and blue” after rolling down the steep incline.

“I broke my wrist, lost the nail on the finger,” he said.

Leno’s tumble, which also left him with his eye swollen shut, is just the latest in a string of accidents that have befallen the TV personality.

Back in November 2022, Leno underwent surgery for serious burns to his face, hands and chest that he suffered when flames erupted as he worked on a vintage car.

And last year, Leno suffered a number of broken bones after being knocked off a motorcycle.

The comedian told a Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist that he broke his collarbone and two ribs and cracked his kneecaps.

“So I turned down a side street and cut through a parking lot, and unbeknownst to me, some guy had a wire strung across the parking lot but with no flag hanging from it,” Leno said. “So, you know, I didn’t see it until it was too late. It just clotheslined me and, boom, knocked me off the bike. The bike kept going, and you know how that works out.

“At this age, you don’t learn from your mistakes. You just keep doing the same stupid things,” he joked to TMZ about his accident-prone outings.

But Leno has also faced another health issue when he went public earlier this year with the news that his wife of 44 years, Mavis, has advanced dementia.

“It’s OK. You know, it’s life. Everybody goes through it,” Leno told Fox News of his wife’s condition. “I’ve been very lucky in my life. I don’t complain about everything. We have a lot of fun, and I cook dinner for her every night.”
