Katie Holmes has an eternal place on our mood boards thanks to her well-stocked arsenal of button-ups, jeans, and Mary-Janes. But yesterday, the actor reminded us that, while she’s got that everywoman je ne sais quoi, she’s no minimalist.
Holmes, who is prepping for the fast-approaching premiere of Our Town, grabbed a pre-rehearsal coffee dressed like a beloved high school art teacher. While she stuck to the classic button-up/jeans/Mary-Janes formula, she leaned into the kooky vibe, thanks entirely to her slim-fitting jeans from Kapital, covered in multicolored patchwork in suede, velvet, and corduroy. (The statement-making pants, which retailed for $2,370, are appropriately dubbed the “Hippie Insane Remake.”)
Keeping the attention on the jeans, the rest of Holmes’s outfit was pretty pared down. She opted for a black button-up top with a gathered, nipped-in waist, and her beloved teal velvet Mary-Janes from ViBi Venezia. Never seen without an enormous bag of some kind, she opted for a white leather tote, and finished off her look with a pair of sepia-lensed sunglasses and a baseball cap.
In her eclectic outfit, Katie Holmes brings back fond memories of eating lunch in our favorite high school teachers’ classroom. Hey, if this whole acting thing doesn’t work out, she’s already got the art teacher wardrobe down.
