Huge Marvel star ‘signs on for Deadpool and Wolverine and Avengers Secret Wars’ | Films | Entertainment

It’s no secret that the MCU has been a bit hit and miss since Avengers Endgame landed in cinemas 5 years ago.

Disney has pushed back all but one of its Marvel Studios movies to 2025 following box office disappointments last year with The Marvels and Ant-Man 3.

The only MCU blockbuster to release in 2024 is Deadpool and Wolverine, which is expected to reboot for the franchise’s fortunes with maybe even $1 billion at the box office.

Just as Sony characters turned up in Spider-Man No Way Home, fans are hopeful for some big Fox X-Men cameos in the upcoming movie led by a returning Hugh Jackman.

The latest cameo rumour is one that was originally considered for Deadpool 2.

According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello, Chris Evans has signed on to return to the MCU in both Deadpool and Wolverine and Avengers Secret Wars. The Captain America star bowed out of the franchise in Avengers Endgame, so a comeback would make fans go wild, for sure.

However, the rumour is he’ll be reprising his Human Torch from the Fox Fantastic Four films of the 2000s. On top of this, presumably he’ll be back as Captain America in some way in Avengers Secret Wars, which is rumoured to be a multiverse epic with even Robert Downey Jr expected to be reprising Iron Man.

Captain America is technically still alive in the MCU, having last been seen as an old man at the conclusion of Avengers Endgame. Evans could either return as such an iteration or maybe play a variant of Steve Rogers; perhaps even an evil HYDRA one. Heck, we wouldn’t put it past Marvel for the actor to play both Captain America and Human Torch in Avengers Secret Wars.

Deadpool and Wolverine his cinemas on July 25, 2024 and Avengers Secret Wars lands on May 7, 2027.
