How to watch Donald Trump and Kamala Harris’ first US presidential debate on Seven and 7Plus

Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are set to face off in a debate that will shape the upcoming US Election race.

The presidential candidates will meet for the first time face-to-face on Tuesday night (US time) for perhaps their only debate, a high-pressure opportunity to showcase their starkly different visions for the country after a tumultuous campaign summer.

The event, held in Philadelphia, will offer Americans their most detailed look at a campaign that’s dramatically changed since the last debate in June. In rapid fashion, President Joe Biden bowed out of the race after his own disastrous debate performance, Trump survived an assassination attempt and both sides chose their running mates.

US Democratic presidential candidate Harris and her running mate Tim Walz will tour several battleground states after the highly anticipated debate, her campaign says.

With less than 60 days until the November 5 presidential election, Vice President Harris will kick off the tour in North Carolina on Thursday and travel to Pennsylvania on Friday.

Walz will travel to Michigan and Wisconsin.

Polling averages show a tight race in the handful of states that could swing to Republicans or Democrats and will likely determine the election.

The battleground states also include Georgia, Wisconsin and Arizona.

A key test for Harris and Trump will come at their televised debate, the first since Biden dropped out of the race and endorsed Harris as his successor on July 21.

Harris’ candidacy has re-energised Democrats and donors, and she has had a surge in opinion polls.

Her campaign raised $US361 million ($A541 million) in August, leaving her with a clear cash advantage over Trump.
