Historic 24-Hour Fundraising Haul For Kamala Harris Campaign

Since Vice President Kamala Harris began her 2024 presidential campaign on Sunday, she has garnered a record-breaking $81 million in donations.

It’s the highest amount raised by one candidate within 24 hours, according to a campaign statement. The number includes donations to the campaign itself, the Democratic National Committee and joint fundraising committees.

For comparison, Trump’s campaign said it had pulled in nearly $53 million in the 24 hours after his New York felony conviction in May and boasted that the sum broke online records for Republicans.

Harris’ $81 million comes from more than 888,000 grassroots donors, 60% of whom were identified as first-time donors in the 2024 cycle, the campaign said, on top of $240 million already amassed by Democrats so far this election cycle.

Harris’ campaign said that Win with Black Women, an organization with a network of more than 4,000 people, hosted a call Sunday evening and raised $1.6 million of the record-breaking donation amount.

The campaign also claimed to have garnered 43,000 new recurring donors, half of whom have signed up for weekly donations.

“The historic outpouring of support for Vice President Harris represents exactly the kind of grassroots energy and enthusiasm that wins elections. Already, we are seeing a broad and diverse coalition come together to support our critical work of talking to the voters that will decide this election,” Harris campaign spokesperson Kevin Munoz stated.

“There is a groundswell behind Kamala Harris, and Donald Trump is terrified because he knows his divisive, unpopular agenda can’t stand up to the Vice President’s record and vision for the American people,” Munoz added.

Moreover, Harris gained approximately double the followers on the official @KamalaHQ account on X, formerly Twitter, according to her campaign.

Harris has received numerous endorsements, including from House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), since President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and immediately endorsed his vice president.

Harris’ presidential bid has reportedly sent the right into a frenzy, with some Republicans bashing the way she speaks, her “ethnic background” and the fact she does not have biological children, HuffPost’s Igor Bobic reported.

Some critics, including former Trump White House adviser Stephen Miller and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), have also argued that Harris cannot replace Biden on the ballot because it’s illegal or unfair, Bobic also reported.
